Concept to Paper... to Concept?

Im terrible at putting things to paper, Ugh. and here i almost thought doing this blog would be easier.

Picking a theme and an Idea for the project was easy. Seeing as how the project is about environments it made brainstorming fairly fun.

Some main ideas that came up was of course setting. What kind of setting would we want. I personally leaned towards a modern Setting or slight futuristic. Thinking this a few things came to mind. What have i seen recently that is based in the future. what kind of immagry and theme does "futuristic" bring to mind.

What comes to mind is "Smoother, smaller, faster". if we were to think of our world as we know it right now, 100 or 200 years in the future what would be different? well the easiest things to change would be the firs tthings to be different, technology like computers and MP3 players headphones, shoes and cloths. would change. with different more efficient fuel sources cars would change. faster would be better, smoother would be cooler. smaller would save space. the future is about efficiency. just about the last thing that would change would be the buildings around us. buildings are there and probably wont be going anywhere anytime soon. so our changes would happen around these objects or placed Onto these objects or in them.

the research put into this project is on real world locations and real world buildings. we take in what we see and how things are made. which is why i feel a more futuristic feel suits this project best. Something far enough ahead to push my urge to make things look different than what we are all used to, and not far enough ahead to push the viewers into obscurity.

After browsing through the city scape photo's of Chicago (At http://www.hellochicago.com I thought of what it would look like in the future, probably no different in the next 50 or even 100 years. but life would be completly different. it lead me to look up a movie set in Chicago. A movie called "I, Robot" Staring Will Smith.

it was rather intrigueing and i saw something i knew i wanted in our animation project. the Audi RSQ(picture taken from: http://www.carpw.com/de/audi+autos/rsq/). a concept car for the movie.

So i decided to start on it! my own crack at modeling the Audi RSQ. still an amateur at this sort of thing i try my best.

The other images showing more progress from earlier on up to this point are here:
